Science Fiction film The Maze Runner Review
Science adult fiction movie "The Maze Runner" hits the North American box-office with $32.5m (£19.9m). It has defeated two other major debuts in to second and third position respectively. Liam Neeson's A Walk Among the Tombstones took $13.1m (£8.01m) and the comedy debut "This Is Where I Leave You" won the third position with $11.9m (£7.3m). Report says that The Maze Runner produced with a comparatively low budget of $34m (£20.8m).Surprisingly, the movie able to regain the expense amount from the first week of its release. Idris Elba's movie "No Good Deed" $10.2m (£6.2m) is in the fourth position.
"The Maze Runner" is an adaptation of the novel in the same name written by James Dashner. The novel depicts the story of some teenage boys who labyrinths in a giant maze and unable to find the way to their homes.
"Our little $34 million-budgeted film is pretty darn strong," said Chris Aronson, head of distribution for Fox. "No-one had launched a young adult title in September. We took a risk, but it paid off," he added BBC reports.
Recently Fox's another film "The Fault in Our Stars", young adult film hits the box office with a wonderful collection of $125m (£76.4m). The production cost of the "The Fault in Our Stars", was only $12m (£7.3m).
"It shows the pitch-perfect strategic planning of Fox," said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for box-office tracker Rentrak. "Teenagers are probably the most fickle creatures on the planet to figure out. So marketing to this particular group is tricky and there have been a lot of casualties in this young adult war," Paul Dergarabedian added.
'Maze Runner' Sequel 'The Scorch Trials' Scheduled For 2015 Premiere.
