The new social networking giant Ello: Should Facebook be worried?
The word 'social network' always reflects the picture of Facebook in our minds. But there are lot more social networking sites, who don't have popularity like Facebook. Ello is one of them, who is trying to catch the attention of users who have got tired of Facebook. Nowadays the tendency to leave Facebook has risen among users for different news and they obviously can try Ello.
Ello is basically a public based social networking site. It has been accused for lack of privacy from many users. From the early beginning Ello has promised to provide proper privacy settings by emailing its users. But for some extent they failed to keep the privacy level up to the mark. The design and management system of Ello seems quite complex to users. So gaining full control over Ello might take some time for users. On the other hand who doesn't know the whole menu of Facebook?
Ello doesn't likes advertisements. Users are unable to create ads directly for their business usage. They only can manage normal profiles and update their posts but nothing special. So Ello has narrowed the possibility of branding by ads.
A feature like Buzzfeed quiz of Ello might lead some introvert users to embarrassing situations since once this feature has been used by the user Ello starts to track every move of the user. The posts become publicly visible.
So to expand the circle of Ello with more users it might have to upgrade its features and it should have to learn what user wants. Ello should add the filtering method, the users would obviously want to control his/her posts visibility. Filtering provides satisfaction to users, which is still lacking in Ello.
So rather than following Facebook, Ello should try to come with their own ideas. They would have to build the trust among the users that their profiles are completely safe and not hack able. It takes a lot to run a perfect and successful social networking site and Facebook is making the hard thing possible with new innovative ideas to capture the mind of users. They always think about the users demand and choice and try to fill up their wishes with new features and settings. So the day has come when Ello should look forward to reform itself with the users demand to develop its popularity among people.
