"The Good Lie" Release Date, Cast, Trailer: Reese Witherspoon shines in the movie
A movie with a catch phrase 'Miracles are made by people who refuse to stop believing' will definitely fall in the drama genre. The new film 'The Good Lie' is a real tearjerker, so bring a box of tissue and let the drama begin.
Based on real-life events, the film features Reese Witherspoon as a strong-willed Midwesterner woman named Carrie Davis. Davies, an employment agency counselor, helps four young Sudanese refugees look for jobs after their relocation to the United States. These refugees also called "The Lost Boys", escapes from the havocs of the civil war ranging in Sudan and will now have to grow accustomed to the quiet life in Kansas. The Sudanese civil war in the past three decades produced more than 20,000 refugees known as The Lost Boys.
'The Good Lie' is the latest film of Reese Witherspoon after her great performance in the movie Walk the Line. Sudanese actors Emmanuel Jal, Arnold Oceng, and newcomer Nyakuoth Weil, worked side by side with the Award winner Witherspoon and film star Corey Stoll.
Well-known screenwriter Margaret Nagle wrote the script. Phillipe Falardeau, writer and director of the Oscar nominated Foreign Language film "Monsieur Lazhar", directed the film. According to Falardeau, Sudan caught his attention after producing a documentary in the place in 1994. 'The Good Lie' movie is the first English-Language film of the director from Quebec.
While some people commented that the "good lie" in the movie is Witherspoon as a "poster girl" (for marketing purposes?) because she only played a secondary character, Film director Falardeau has this to say, "Today my message is, the story of the Lost Boys is worth sending out in the world and Warner Brothers can certainly do that at a scale that I couldn't have with my local distributor in Quebec, if the film had been done just in Quebec."
The movie received a Rating of PG-13 from the Motion Picture Association of America or MPAA. Warner Brothers Pictures will release the movie on October 3, 2014.
