Criminal Minds Season 10: Jennifer Love Hewitt's Character 'Kate Callahan' Will Be A Different Kind Of BAU Agent, She Schmoozes With Bad Guys
Criminal Minds Season 10 premiere date is on October 1, Wednesday, at the 9PM time slot on CBS. Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Shemar Moore as Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid, A.J. Cook as Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia, and Thomas Gibson as Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner will be seen back on BAU on Criminal Minds Season 10 air date. Jeanne Tripplehorn's Dr. Alex Blake though won't be with them. In the Season 9 finale, she was seen leaving her credentials behind, surreptitiously inside Dr. Reid's bag. Jennifer Love Hewitt as agent Kate Callahan will take her place in the BAU beginning on Criminal Minds Season 10 start date.
Hewitt's character will be bringing something new to the team. While Tripplehorn's Dr. Alex Blake is an FBI linguistics expert, her agent Kate Callahan's line of specialization is undercover operations. In what could be a Criminal Minds Season 10 spoiler, showrunner Erica Messer told Fashion & Style: "You see [Kate] doing something you don't see our team ever doing, which is schmoozing with a bad guy, working undercover to take a pedophile down. We've never seen our team pretend to like a criminal, so right off the bat she's different in that way."
Messer dished out other Criminal Minds Season 10 spoilers. She told TV Line that on the romantic front, "We need to figure out a few things with Morgan's girlfriend [Savannah, played by Rochelle Aytes] and Hotch's girlfriend [Beth, played by Bellamy Young] and see how we'll explore those stories this year." She also revealed that on Episode 3, BAU will be dispatched to the site of "one of the largest disasters with mass casualties they've seen in their 10-year history."
Criminal Minds Season 10 Episode 1 is entitled "X." According to TV.com's Criminal Minds Season 10 episode guide, it will follow the BAU team as they head to California with their newest member Kate Callahan to catch an unsub who collects limbs from previous victims. Kerr Smith will guest star as Frank Cowles, the body-part collector according to TV Line.
