iPad Mini 3 Update: May Not be Launched in Apple Event this October, Release Date, Specs and Features of the New iPad mini

Now that we're in the later months of 2014, the talk of iPad mini 3 is starting to heat up. So what's new with the iPad mini 3? When's the release date, and how much? Here is what you need to know.

Based on Apple's launch history with iPad, it was initially speculated that iPad mini 3 is going to be introduced in a special event in October this year. Now that Apple is indeed having an event this October 21, the prediction is just about right. Instead, there's a new report stating that the iPad mini 3 may arrive in the first months of 2015.

The last iPad mini 2 was released in October last year, and it wasn't called the iPad mini 2, it was called iPad mini with Retina display. This means that iPad mini 3 isn't going to be called that either. It is said that it might be called the iPad mini Air.

KGI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the new iPad mini will have an 8 megapixel iSight camera. He also claims that the new iPad mini 3 will have the same form as the iPad mini 2.

iPad mini3 might also come with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and NFC, which allows the user to have a virtual credit card for a cash-free shopping, as in the recent iPhone 6, and it is likely that the sensor is better than the one in the iPhone. The new iPad mini 3 might also come with a more powerful A8 processor.
