Grimm Season 4: New Octopus-Headed Wesen to Leave New Grimm Trubel "In A Very Dire State" in Premiere Episode, Teases Producer
The Gedachtnis Esser, an octopus-like Wesen with memory and identity stealing powers will be introduced on Grimm Season 4 episodes 1 and 2 in a two-part story arc written by executive co-producers Jim Kouf and David Greenwalt. Grimm Season 4 episode 1 is entitled "Thanks for the Memories" and it will air on October 24 at its 9 PM Friday time slot on NBC. Grimm Season 4 episode 2 is entitled "Octopus Head" and it will be shown on October 31, Halloween. The new Wesen antagonist will be "really frightening and very cool, almost a James Bond kind of thing going on there," says Greenwalt in an interview with Zap2it.
Although the official Grimm Season 4 episode guide is still not available, there is already much Grimm Season 4 news and spoilers that have been shared and spread around since the July San Diego Comic-Con by the executive producers and cast themselves. In the Zap2it interview, Greenwalt revealed that Grimm Season 4 episode 1 will be picking up "one minute after" the Season 3 finale. In that season 3 finale, one of the last scenes shows Captain Renard getting shot in the chest several times by Weston Steward, causing him to be taken to the hospital apparently dying. Sasha Roiz, who plays the Captain, said, "I kind of saw it coming, so it's not a huge surprise. I think we'll try to find some interesting way to bring him back. We'll see what happens."
Nick will therefore be starting Season 4 not only powerless; Juliette will also still be mad at him for having allowed himself to be tricked by Adalind into sleeping with her. Trubel will be staying awhile to serve as Nick's Grimm eyes. David Giuntoli who plays Nick tells TVGuide, "Trubel is now my seeing-eye Grimm. I would hope I get the powers back on some level, but domestic life is much easier when I'm not having to kill monsters." Monroe and Rosalind will likely be on the run as they go on their honeymoon after having been exposed as Wesens who have been harboring a Grimm. Silas Weir Mitchell who portrays Monroe in the show tells TVGuide, "We try and make a honeymoon but things are complicated in Portland these days...The Grimm has been un-Grimmed... things are turned upside-down. We are exposed now as Wesen harboring this Grimm. We put ourselves on the line with this wedding... and Rosalee's worst nightmare came true with the Red Wedding sequel."
With the team rendered practically helpless following last season's finale, said Greenwalt in an interview with TV Guide, they will be forced to contend with the Gedachtnis Esser. Said he, "This guy is ruthless and sophisticated - a high-tech spy who is involved with some highly placed military intelligence personnel." Although the octopus-headed Wesen will be claiming many victims, he will be specifically targeting Trubel. Their eventual confrontation "will leave her in a very dire state," revealed the producer and writer.
