Half-Life 3: Considered One Of The Foundations That Positioned First Person Games Into Entire New Level 

"Half-Life" is a science-fiction video game, which is developed by Valve Corporation and served as the company's introductory product.

Initially released in 1998 by Sierra Studios for Microsoft Windows, "Half-Life" now also runs in the PlayStation 2 platform. In January 2013, the game became accessible to Mac OS X and Linux ports platforms.

On the game, players take on the role of Dr. Gordon Freeman, a theoretical physicist who is in quest for his way out a hidden underground research facility. The facility specialized in research and experiments pertaining to teleportation technology.

"Half-Life" is a first-person shooter game that involves fighting tasks as well as puzzle solving in order to move on through the game. The game also utilizes structures sequences like aVortigaunt smashing down a door, to advance on to primary plot points. The player views the whole length of the game. Half-Life has no level-up system; however, it divides the game into chapters, whose titles appear on the screen as the player advances through the game.

In an interview in the middle of November 2013, Valve head Gabe Newell confirmed that they are working on a new game engine. "We've been working on new engine stuff for a while. We're just waiting for a game to roll it out with it," Newell shared.

Unfortunately, Newell was not able to mention if the game engine pertains to "Half-Life" 3; nonetheless, it undeniably got everybody thoughtful about it.

The Washington Post, in January 2014, revealed Newell saying that the Valve is working on multi-player games instead of single player, just like Half-Life possible new installment.

"When we started out, we were a single-player video game company that could have been really successful just doing Half-Life sequel after Half-Life sequel," he said."But we collectively said let's try to make multi-player games even though there's never been a commercial successful multi-player game," Newell added.

Newell's statements did not entail a Half-Life installment. Nonetheless, it can still be considered that if Valve pushes Half-Life 3, it will integrate a multi-player mode.

In the meantime, a revelation coming from Counter-Strike co-creator and ex-valve man, Minh Le, was noted in Techradar.com that Half-Life 3 is currently being worked on. "I think it's kind of public knowledge that people know that it is being worked on. And so if I were able to say yeah, I've seen some images, like some concept art of it, that wouldn't be big news to be honest," Le said.

"I guess I could say that I did see something looked kind of like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn't surprise anyone if I said they're doing it, they're working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I'd say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3," he added.

Remarkably, Half-Life 3 is considered one of the foundations that positioned first person games into entire new level, since the days of Counter-Strike. It was reported inCyberland that Valve is apparently announcing the game at the EGX 2014 event.

The much-expected Half-Life 3 release date could likely be the same release date of the first batch of new Steam Machines and Source Engine 2.
