48 Hours: Focused on Showing Events Occurring within a 48hours Span of Time
Last September 27, 2014, Saturday, 10PM on CBS Network, the show 48 Hours aired its premiere episode
48 hours is an American documentary and news magazine television series, which focused on showing events occurring within a 48hours span of time, hence the name.
The show is now in its 27th season and its premiere episode is entitled, Paradise Lost.
The previous episode reveals Susan Spencer and the investigation behind the death of John Bender, who is “phenomenally handsome” and symbolizes a “future with a capital F”, according to his wife. Bender, who is a Wall Street genius, was seen with no life in the bedroom of his house in Costa Rica. He and his wife had transferred to Central America to fulfill a dream and live peacefully. He also made a nature sanctuary plus a 50,000-square-foot home without walls, spending part of his $100 million affluence.
It was January 28, 2010 when the dream became a nightmare. Bender died from a bullet wound at his nape. His wife, Anne Bender, said that John was trying to commit suicide. Ann Bender was subject to trial, since the prosecutors in Costa Rica kept it up as a murder. However, Ann Bender was proclaimed as not guilty, and the trial was cleared. The judicial system in Costa Rica, unlike the system in the United States, allows people to undergo in the trial for two times for the same crime committed. So once again, the Costa Rican prosecutors charged Ann Bender with murder. In May 2014, she was labeled as criminal. The 48 hours’ investigation, with the assistance of an independent forensic team, found that the prosecution’s claim of what happened was not the real thing that happened.
Susan Spencer told the NY daily News, “You can usually get a sense of who’s telling the truth. I didn’t come away after talking to Ann Bender with any sense of that.”
“I defy anyone who looks at all the facts in this story to say definitely. This is what happened,” Spencer added.
Bottom line, who murdered John Bender? Find out what happens next.
