Foo Fighters Performing 5 Straight Nights on 'Letterman' Late Night Show on CBS October 2014
The Foo Fighters have announced that they will be spending some extended time in New York City next week as the musical guests of the "Late Show with David Letterman" for 5 straight nights (a full week).
They will be playing covers of songs inspired by their forthcoming record Sonic Highways each night. Additionally, Dave Grohl will sit for an interview with the talk-show host on October 13th,
Even though the band has their new album Sonic Highways releasing, according to The Hollywood Reporter they will actually be performing cover of songs that inspired their new album each night. Singer, Dave Grohl, will be a guest on the show as well for a sit-down interview with Letterman on October 13th.
The week-long residency also comes at the same time of the premiere of Grohl's documentary series, also titled Sonic Highways, which premieres on HBO on October 17th.
"This isn't just the making of our most ambitious album," Grohl said in the preview. "This is a love letter to the history of American music."
They released a press release that explains: "One song was recorded in each city, every song featuring local legends sitting in, and every lyric written in an unprecedented experimental style: Dave held off on putting down words until the last day of each session, so as to be inspired by the experiences, interviews and personalities that became part of the process. Each episode delves into the singular regional identity of each city-how each region shaped these musicians in their formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric of their hometowns-ultimately celebrating their common bond: Every artist that appears in the show, regardless of genre or locale, started as an average kid with the universal dreams of making music and making it big."
The series documented the Foo Fighters recording a different legendary studios in eight different cities including Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC and New York.
