Family Force 5 Hits #1 with "Let It Be Love"
Congratulations are in order as Family Force 5 lands its first-ever Hot AC / CHR No. 1 radio hit. Their latest single "Let It Be Love" tops the chart this week. The Dove Award nominated song is from the band's acclaimed new album, Time Stands Still, which shot to the top of multiple retail sales charts when it debuted Aug. 5 from Word Entertainment.
The last song to be written for Time Stands Still, Family Force 5's Derek Mount ("Chap Stique" / guitar, vocals) says "Let It Be Love" was inspired by a live Switchfoot video. "I was particularly struck by a moment when Jon Foreman spoke to the crowd," recalls Mount. "He mentioned that there were protesters outside the venue and he said something that I thought was magical to the audience. He encouraged them to remember there was something deeper than disagreement, and there is beauty in connection, in common ground. He also said we have one card to play, and that card is love. This is the sentiment that has served as our inspiration for our song, 'Let It Be Love.' So we wanted to emphasize the incredible, life-giving power of grace. We feel that anytime we face the question, 'what is the right response?' the answer is, 'love.'"
In addition to "Let It Be Love," Family Force 5 is garnering significant Christian airplay with BZRK (feat. KB), which hits No. 6 on Rock this week with increased spins from WHRZ (Spartanburg, SC) and (KRNG Reno, NV). "BZRK (feat. KB)" also became the first music video from Time Stand Still. Already approaching three-quarters of a million views and gathering over 4,900 likes on YouTube, the video also went berserk on MTV.com, becoming the No. 1 most viewed music video on the site.
