This series is a Shonda Rhimes latest creation/production and its story line is set to revolve around a mysterious murder, a successful defense attorney and her students. The thrill and twists of How to get away with murder are increasing as time goes on with the third episode entitled "smile, or go to jail". In the previous episode, Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), the defense attorney and hey students took on a case and won. The case involved the murder of the wife of a millionaire Max St. Vincent (Steve Weber). While all the odds were stacked against him as all evidence pointed to him, Keating was able to defend him and prove his innocence and winning the case. While she was on the case, we see Keating getting suspicious of her husband Sam Keating (Tom Verica) and how he is involved in the murder of a young girl in his university. She seeks out Detective Nate Lahee to investigate if Sam had anything to do with Lila's mysterious murder or not.

According to the synopsis, Paula Murphy (Ana Ortiz) is at first arrested for the violation of rules of infringement and when she is released the FBI take her in for questioning as she is suspected to be involved in a recent murder case. This is going to be a task considering her current record and the team has the task of gaining confidence of the second suspect in the Murder case to get him/her to testify for her, as International Business Times reports put it.
