Hello Kitty Celebrates 40th Anniversary: Sanrio Mania Is Now in LA
As Hello Kitty celebrates its 40th anniversary, Sanrio Manio was brought to Los Angeles.
According to Asia One, the exhibition of "Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty" documents the character from her early start in Japan to being a worldwide popular character that she now enjoys.
The exhibition is held at Japanese-American National Museum. It will run from the Oct. 11 to April 16, 2015. This features tons of Hello Kitty items as well as artifacts including the very first Hello Kitty item, which is actually a small vinyl coin purse that debuted in March 1975 in the country of Japan. There are also other items that can be found in the exhibition and these include Hello Kitty paintings, wines, and clothing. Almost all items that you will ask for can be found in the exhibition.
As some its curators explain, the exhibition will reveal her influence on popular culture. Greg Kimura, JANM president, said that they brought wonderful curators who will tell the Hello Kitty story as a product and character and also a curator, which tells the Hello Kitty's story as a muse.
The Hello Kitty fun in LA does not just end in its exhibition. Fans may also consider paying a visit to the Hello Kitty Con 2014, which is the first ever Hello Kitty Convention in the world. This will be held from October 30 to November 2 this year at The Geffen Contemporary in MOCA, which is considered as the Little Tokyo of LA. The convention provides interactive events and experiences for friends and fans of all ages. Many surprises and treats await for everyone who loves Hello Kitty and Sanrio.
For those who desire to know more about Hello Kitty, there will be lectures and workshops in addition to panels, according to San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Dave Marche, the senior director Sanrio's brand management and marketing, also said that there is going to be tons of eye candy and plenty of things that fans can take pictures of or with. He also added that if you are a fan of Hello Kitty, the Sanrio Mania in LA will blow your mind and gives you complete happiness.
