Penelope Cruz is Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive, Stars in 'Grimsby with Sacha Baron Cohen
The Esquire Magazine has named Penelope Cruz as the 'The Sexiest Women Alive' in their November 2014 issue. Esquire Magazine is a famous lifestyle publication primarily intended for men, Huffington Post reported.
Penelope Cruz, the 40-year-old actress, has stated that she has played several tricks on herself just to maintain "the figure." She added, "most people have probably experienced what I've been through. There's just a point in life where you're tempted to explore the dark world."
She told Esquire, "I have been hard on myself, especially during my younger years."
Cruz entered the Holywood pop culture when she accepted the challenge of playing the role of Sofia Serrano in Tom Cruise's movie "Vanilla Sky". During that time, the decision wasn't that hard for her to make because Cruise was her real life partner then.
Her biggest project as an actress was in 2009 when she garnered the Best Supporting Actress award in her portrayal in one of the three major characters of the Woody Allen movie "Vicky Christina Barcelona." On top of the award's prestige was the overwhelming pride that she was the very first actress of Spanish origin that achieved the trophy.
Cruz was also part of the cast of characters of the highly-celebrated "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides" side-by-side lead actor Johnny Depp in 2011.
The sexiest woman alive got married in 2010 to actor Javier Bardem. The lovely couple has two beautiful kids- 1-year-old girl and 3-year-old star.
Cruz now joins the exclusive list of the Sexiest Woman Alive of Esquire Magazine- an elusive award that started in 2004, naming Angelina Jolie as their first ever winner. Other famous celebrities in the list include Mila Kunis (2012), Rihanna (2011), Minka Kelly (2010), Kate Beckinsale (2009), Halle Berry (2008), Charliz Theron (2007), Scarlett Johansson (2013 & 2006), and Jessica Biel (2005).
Cruz, who was a cast in "The Counselor" movie in 2013 together with the love-of-her life Javier Bardem, will be in the upcoming drama Ma Ma- a purely Spanish-speaking drama. She is also in Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy production, "Grimsby."
The Madrid-born superstar, despite of her success, told Esquire that she isn't as attracted to drama roles as before.
