'Insidious 3': Third Chapter is About to Scare the Theaters in 2015, Release Date, Spoilers Unveiled
The third movie in the "Insidious" franchise will be released next year in May, according to Enstarz.
"Insidious 3" stars Dermot Mulroney of the "Shameless" television show playing Stefanie Scott's father. Lin Shaye will be returning to reprise the role of Elise Reiner. Stefanie Scott of Disney's "A.N.T. Farm" will also join the cast as the young protagonist.
With the second Insidious movie released just this September, topping off the U.S. box office with $51.1 million just in its opening weekend, a new Insidious movie is slated for release next year and is currently in post-production.
Various teasers, including the ominous poster released by Movie Web that includes a scary cryptic message, and other movie production stills, have shown up to make fans of the Insidious franchise excited and anticipating.
The most recent poster reads: "The man who can't breath, the man who lives in the vents, I heard him saying your name, last night, I heard him in your room while you were gone. He's in there right now, STANDING in your room!"
The filming stage for Chapter 3 was officially finished on Aug. 19. Blumhouse Productions is co-producing "Insidious 3" alongside Paranormal Activity's Peli. Screenwriter Leigh Whannell, who also wrote "Insidious 1" and "Insidious 2's" scripts, is directing the third movie in the franchise instead of the past two chapter's director, James Wan.
"Insidious 3" is considered a prequel to the first two "Insidious" movies, as Air Herald noted.
Aside from directing and writing, Leigh Whannell will also be reprising his role as, the ghost hunter, Specs, with Angus Sampson. The movie's plot will revolve around a family with a teenage girl being hunted, which predates the paranormal occurrences that happened to the Lamberts family in the preceding chapters one and two of the "Insidious" franchises.
Even with more negative reviews over the "Insidious" franchise, the films still grossed more than $257 million. Considering that the first "Insidious" was a first release for FilmDistrict, the franchise is one of the top-grossing franchises worldwide.
