Brad Pitt's 'Fury' Review: Tank Warfare That Defines Honor, Glory, and War
Brad Pitt returns on the big screen in "Fury," a film that revolves around harsh realities of war. But, is this war movie will be the next 'Saving Private Ryan'? Well, the answer is still blurry, yet "Fury" is definitely a war movie to watch for.
"Fury" is a highly anticipated film that hit the theaters on Oct. 17, Friday. Starring actors Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, and many more, "Fury" is written and directed by David Ayer and is considered one of the most daring and dramatic flicks of the fall, according to Hollywood Life.
According to The Wrap, "Fury" is the film about tank warfare during the World War II. This movie doesn't fuss or flinch in terms of showing the gore, blood, and gristle of modern armed conflict. But also, it attains a savage grace, which turns its brutality or violence into a truth as the hulking metal juggernauts crush through the landscape death with fragile, and landscape spitting fire men inside.
"Fury" is not just a popcorn entertainment or a typical war film.
The performances are outstanding. Everyone will get the real sense of combat. As Collier, Pitt is a standout not because of portraying the lead actor but he was willing to do his part in the movie.
Andrew Menzies, the film's production designer, is to credit for the claustrophobic look as well as feel of "Fury," recreating the Sherman tank's inside for the scenes of work and war and worry among the crew while painting the huge canvas of the battle-ruined Germany. Roman Vasyanov, film's cinematographer, also does a surprising work with a film that takes place in rivers of mud, blood, and muck.
Brad Pitt's "Fury" got mixed reviews upon hitting the theaters. According to Los Angeles Times, if memorable war movies really mean something to you, don't hesitate to add this movie to your list as it belongs there.
Ayer has not topped "Private Ryan" even if he recycled some part of it.
"Fury" is like the personal war memoir of Sam Fuller, "The Big Red One," which is less poetic, straightforward, and action film with a hint of history and humanity.
