Still Alice Movie Release Date, Reveals, News, Reviews, Rumors and Updates: Julianne Moore Acts Alongside Kirsten Stewart in Early 2015 Movie
Still Alice premiered at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival on September 8th 2014 and by 11th Sony Pictures Classics announced that they had bought the distribution rights at an undisclosed figure that is rumored to be in the low millions. The independent movie that got generally positive reviews is written, produced and directed by Wash Westmoreland whose vast CV includes documentaries and television in addition to independent films. The movie is based on a book by the same name written by Lisa Genova. Still Alice is set for a January 16th 2015 theatre release. In an interview with Film maker directors Wash Westmoreland and Richard Glatzer said that language and linguistics were central to the movie. Lisa Genova on the other end wrote the book after she finished her PhD in Neuroscience and after she discovered her grandmother had Alzheimer's for quite a while without her family's knowledge. Lisa said she read every book she could get her hands on about Alzheimer's.
The movie has a disease at its center that hasn't seen much exposure in recent years but has featured a lot in movies, most famously in 'The Notebook'. Alice Howland, the protagonist in the movie is a linguistics professor at Harvard who is doing exceptionally well in her career and personal life. She begins to notice forgetfulness in her day to day life. She begins to find it difficult to follow a conversation thread or remember the plot of a book, out protagonist has early onset Alzheimer's. In the book we see the progression of the disease as Alice falls deeper and deeper into it and captures her emotions.
The movie has one of Hollywood's favorite leading ladies Julianne Moore who is acting alongside Kristen Stewart and opposite Alec Baldwin. Kate Bosworth, Hunter Parish and Stephen Kunken are other names on the cast list.
