This game is meant to be the sequel to the first game Dead Island game that was released in 2011. This upcoming survival horror video game is developed by Yager Development and published by Deep Silver. The game developed by the help of Unreal Engine 4 is only meant for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows platforms. It contains both single and multiplayer modes and is scheduled to be released on the spring of 2015 distributed in both optical discs and download.

The project for this second game was originally to be done by Techland but they at the time busy developing on the own new project Dying Light which they partnered with Warner Bros in making. Due to this they could not take part in the development of this game. The game's development was then given to Deep Silver in the summer of 2012. The game gets its setting in some parts of California and it is hear that we are able to see the great land marks such as Santa Monica Pier and Hollywood. Also included in the game are some parts of San Francisco. All this was revealed by Deep Silver in a demonstration of the gameplay footage.

The game picks up several months after the events of the first game Dead Island. Since California has proven to be the epicenter of the outbreak, the United States military has put the entire state of California under quarantine in the attempt of controlling the zombie outbreak. The upcoming game introduces a lot more feature that were never there in its predecessors. Apart from just great graphics, the new game brings with it new brutal fighting style that enable players easily take down their deadly but fragile opponents much faster and easier than before. It is these new additions that make the game highly anticipated by fans and gamers.
