Barry Rowland & Deliverance Talk About Their Passion Behind "The Light"
Ask ten people to define "joy" and you will probably get ten different answers. Barry Rowland & Deliverance is a ministry full of joy! The very reason they love to sing about God's glory is that each member of the group was raised to know what real joy is.
Barry Rowland & Deliverance's ministry is pointed toward that moment when the lost find the Gentle Shepherd. The trip back home is full of holy laughter and pure, undiluted joy! Even the angels rejoice around the Throne of God over that one sinner who finally found their way Home. Life doesn't get any better than that.
The ministry of Barry Rowland & Deliverance has surrendered to the call help bring sinners to the Savior and saints to a greater knowledge of Him.
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your new album "The Light." Why did you choose to title the record "The Light"?
God's timing! Our country is in a whirlwind of destruction and we need to be about our Father's business. Jesus is the light and there's not enough darkness to put it out. "He can't be extinguished by mans sinful night."
Hallels: What are your goals for this new record? What lessons do you wish your listeners to grasp after listening to the album?
Our ministry goals are for God to be glorified and pleased with our efforts. If during this task the industry recognizes and awards our diligence, it will only broaden the message to a greater breadth of listeners. Our prayer is for listeners to be spiritually inspired during and after listening. That one, or two, songs will help them though a storm or ignite their passion to pursue a greater, intimate relationship with Christ.
Hallels: I love song writer Kyla Rowland who has written 8 of the songs on the new record. What do you appreciate most about Kyla's compositions?
Her songs are inspired by the Holy Spirit! She has a God-given talent for writing, composing, ect. Combine that with knowledge of God's word - understanding the need and duty of prayer - faithfully trusting and obeying the Lord through many trials and tribulations - then you have a song that will minister to and inspire the listener.
Hallels: Talk to us about the album's lead single "God Delivered Me." What's the song about?
It refers to the discipline of prayer and the victory once accomplished. Satan hates nothing more than for God's children to pray. He will try to hinder us from communicating with our Heavenly Father because he knows the result - he is defeated once again! Grace prevails inside the Throneroom and satan is not welcome.
Hallels: Many of your songs on the new record centered around the Cross and the resurrection of Jesus. Why is this an important theme for you to sing about?
"Preach Jesus and Him crucified." I'm sure I've seen this somewhere!!! Our entire being and pursuit should be centered around this theme. It is our responsibility as Christians to be messengers - proclaiming to all that Jesus died for our sins, arose victorious and is coming again!
Hallels: "The Light" speaks of Jesus' guidance. Can you relate a time when you have trusted Jesus as your light?
I ask mom (Kyla Rowland) to answer this question. I cannot point to only one event in my life when I suddenly saw "The Light". I saw Him in salvation, but, then I began to see "The Light" in a "different" light, learning quickly that He shines the brightest in our "Night Seasons." If any of His children kept a catalogue of all the times we were enveloped by the darkness of storms, then somewhere in that darkest hour, that "fourth watch," saw a Light coming, walking on our stormy sea, and saying, "Be not afraid, it is I," we could not contain the volumes we would accumulate at the end of our lives. Satan tried hard to put out the Light that is Christ; trying to kill David, Herod killing countless babies after He was born. Man, even our government, has made a great effort to turn off the Light of the world. Yet, just this morning, with a heavy heart; crying tears of utter hopelessness, I saw Him...walking on my stormy sea, comforting me with the words, "Be not afraid, it is I." Kyla Rowland
