Beyonce Sings Spanish on "Mi Gente" Track, Makes Music Comeback for Hurricane Relief Charities
Beyonce sings in Spanish for a remix of J. Balvin and Willy Williams’ latest track, “Mi Gente,” to contribute to hurricane relief efforts.
The 36-year-old singer will donate the proceeds to charities for hurricane relief as people attempt to return to their normal state of life after the chaos caused by multiple hurricanes including Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
Beyonce has not released new songs since giving birth to the twins Sir Carter and Rumi. Now, she has spoken about her donation efforts to hurricane relief charities.
"I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico, and the other affected Caribbean islands," Beyonce said.
Although her lyrics are in Spanish, these translate as: "With mine, everyone moves, I have the party in my genes, I am the queen of the children, My people do not stop, nobody here wants to go, If the rhythm is in your head, Now let go and move your feet, I love it when the bass sounds, We started to level up."
This track is Beyonce’s most recent pledge to support efforts in aiding affected families in rebuilding their lives. The 36-year-old performer was born and raised in Houston, Texas- the first city greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey that left over 30,000 residents homeless caused by huge floods.
Beyonce also participated in the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief telethon earlier in September.
"During the time when it's impossible to watch the news without seeing violence or racism in this country, just when we think it couldn't possibly get worse, natural disasters take precious life, do massive damage, and forever change lives...," she shared.
The mother-of-three also encouraged everyone to donate food, clothes, clean water, and more for the victims of the hurricanes. "Natural disasters don't discriminate. They don't see if you're an immigrant, black or white, Hispanic or Asian, Jewish or Muslim, wealthy or poor,” Beyonce said. “We're all in this together."
