#MommyRapper, Christian hip-hop artist, and former Show Me The Money 6 contestant, HeeSun Lee, is releasing a new EP titled Flying Cars on March 8th. Today, she has released an MV for the EP's lead single, "Future," and preorders for the album are open on iTunes. The theme of the album emphasizes the future while acknowledging that society today has been at a decline: "Instead of foreshadowing a hopeful future, more things are mirroring our past with racism, segregation, riots, wars, protests, etc. To narrow in on the entertainment industry, music is being glorified, people and things going viral with absolutely no substance, and society feeds into the hype. It's disheartening to see even what female rappers rap about and how no one is doing much to change that." Believing that life-changing lyrics and songs should be at the forefront, HeeSun aims to have all her lyrics encourage people, uplift women, and give hope. "I want to let people know what I stand for and what I represent. [For instance,] I'm a mother and taking care of my kids is my #1 priority. I incorporate my mommy life [with] my music life by documenting how I balance [art] and motherhood. It's very liberating and helps other mothers/women out there to relate," HeeSun says.
With this EP, listeners will also be in for a wonderful treat. This EP features a few songs with HeeSun showcasing her rap skills in Korean, which she aims to do more on her next EP. Despite the difficulty of learning the language, HeeSun sees it as definitely worth the challenge. She also cites her time on Show Me The Moneyas intriguing her interest in Korean Hip Hop (KHH), adding it to her love for the hip hop styles of East Coast boombap and West Coast artists like Tupac and Warren G. With her Korean and KHH fanbase growing, learning the language is not only personal but she also sees it as helping her connect with more of her fans.
