Squire Parsons Announces Retirement
SGMA Hall of Famer and beloved Gospel singer/songwriter Squire Parsons has announced that due to some health issues, he is retiring from touring after more than 40 years of music ministry. He shared the following statement:
To My Dear Friends -
In the simplest of terms, our precious Heavenly Father has drawn a significant portion of my life to a restful conclusion. His grace and mercy have been unwavering, particularly in the days and weeks immediately following life-saving surgery, and while fervent prayers for a complete restoration of health have been offered daily, God's plan has ultimately revealed a different path.
Physical constraints have significantly restricted my ability to continue making regular public appearances, perhaps curtailing them altogether, but at the end of the day, it's comforting beyond description to know that our God never changes. He may change the means by which He deals with us, but His attributes are supremely and absolutely unchangeable.
Live concerts have been a way of life for many, many years and the idea of transitioning from that area of ministry is unsettling. Admittedly, I've pouted simply because I'm human-I don't like change. Thankfully, though, I don't have to know what God is doing behind the scenes because His promises remain steadfast, and as I settle in to writing this new chapter, I can take complete solace in Paul's word of encouragement to the early Christians-"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28 KJV).
Please accept my most humble and personal thanks and appreciation for over 40 years of encouragement and support. Continue to pray that our efforts to reach the lost through new songs about the glorious gospel story will be blessed with souls and that our continuing work to strengthen the body of Christ will be blessed with success for His sake.
Looking for that glorious day of redemption when we stand together in the presence of the Precious Lamb of God, I remain His obedient servant,
Squire
