GTX 800 Series Release Date, Reveals and Spoilers: Cards to be More Powerful than the GTX 700 Series and Less Expensive
The release date for the GTX 800 Series has already been pegged for sometime in October 2015. It is going to be quite difficult to keep telling people to wait for the Nvidia flagships cards because, they are worth the wait. At the moment, the only thing going for them is that they will be more powerful and cheaper. On the other hand, the leaked 3D mark scores for the GTX 880 are quite impressive and may prove that the cards are worth the wait.
This came in after news that PC gamers will have to wit quite some time to upgrade to the 20nm Maxwell chips. At the moment, only the 28 nm Maxwell chips are available for the GTX 750, as well as the 750i versions, the advantage that the GTX 800 series will pose as per now relates to cost as they will be cheaper than the current versions and of course more powerful.
The Maxwell chip architecture which is currently in usage was introduced this year February in the GTX 750 and 750 Ti. Apparently, they will also be in the heart of the GTX 800M chips series which will be for the next generation graphics cards. Apparently, the Maxwell's of the future are looking for a 20nm fabrication process. Despite, the rumors that the GTX 800 series has been delayed from the fourth quarter of this year to 2015, there are still reports of one version of the high end 20nm Maxwell chip being released in a model this year probably before Christmas but the reports have not yet been verified. This version would be something akin to the GTX 780 or the 780 Ti, which are the latest versions. This is just to prepare the market for what the 800 series is actually capable of. The cards are going to hit the shelves by next year, so between now and then; we will have more details on how they run.
