The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Release Date, Reveals and Review: New Plots and Twists as Sonny is Back
If you watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel then you know two things. Old people can make you cry and there was very little left unsettled. So it was a pleasant surprise when Fox searchlight announced a sequel set for release on March 6th 2015. The original amassed 137 million dollars worldwide after becoming a box office surprise becoming one of the highest grossing movies in 2012 after spending a paltry 10 million dollars on production. Considering these numbers it is no wonder Oliver Parker was approached to write a teaser for a sequel in October of the same year.
The plot comes with a number of new twists and turns: Sonny comes back and is this time getting ready to get married to the love of his life whom we met in the first movie, the hotel seems to be full up in this and this is a predicament considering there is only one vacancy, Norman and Carol are back and are working on an exclusive relationship and Madge finally has to choose between two wealthy suitors. All this happens under the watchful eye of Muriel the newly installed hotel's co-manager who seems to have the answers to all these predicaments and more. The best thing about this movie and its predecessor is that it brings back all your favorite actors of yore without them being in the capacity of retired boxing coaches or bumbling dowager countesses. They all have unique and interesting story lines that make the movie refreshing and unique.
Dame Judi Dench, Bill Nighy , Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton shall be making a comeback. Richard Gere will be joining the cast after what seems forever since we last saw him on our screens. Along with Tamsin Greig who is known for multiple roles on British television and from the show Episodes. John Madden is staying on as director and Parker has stayed on as writer. Taking all this into consideration, we look forward to another emotional roller coaster ride in March 2015 at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the Elderly and Beautiful.
