Mortal Kombat X Release Date: Classic Character Returns
Mortal Kombat X Release Date: Classic Character Returns
Back in June, a trailer of Sub-Zero and Scorpion battling it out and featuring next-gen graphics hit the web, and immediately gained millions of views. Mortal Kombat X made its first public appearance at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on June 10 where four characters were revealed apart from the two characters featured in the announcement trailer. Raiden, Cassie Cage, Kotal Kahn, and D'vorah were announced, and just yesterday a new trailer showcased the return of another classic Mortal Kombat character, Kano.
The character of Kano has been in the roster of Mortal Kombat since its first inception. He is known as the leader of the criminal cartel called the Black Dragon and is known to have a persistent rivalry against Sonya Blade and Jax Briggs. Apart from the next gen graphics, Kano's looks hasn't changed that much. In the aforementioned trailer, NetherRealm Studios Director Ed Boon says, "...with all his cybernetic upgrades, he's deadlier than ever." The gameplay shows that Kano's abilities are enhanced depending on what fighting variation is chosen for him, which in the case of the trailer shown is only labeled as "Cutthroat." This fighting variation allows Kano to use his knives and swords to unleash deadly combos to his opponent. The "Cybernetic" variation shows that it will allow Kano to unleash a laser beam attack from his cybernetic eye and as well as using grenades for long range attacks. Finally, the "Commando" variation enhances Kano's grappling attacks which also enables him to counter hi and low attacks from an opponent. Fighting variations are available throughout the different characters that are available to play in the game.
As the months go by, we can expect more character announcements from NetherRealm Studios which will not only pique the interest of old fans of the games, but also the new generation of gamers.
Mortal Kombat has been one of the most successful and popular fighting game around since its first release back in 1992 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the Sega Genisis. Now, after 22 years, the tenth sequel to the fighting game, aptly named Mortal Kombat X, awaits for a 2015 release, available for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.
