The Last Man On Earth Upcoming Show, Spoilers and Reveals: Pilot Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller
With all these seemingly apocalyptic events happening all over the world, trust 20TH Century Fox to come up with a series called Last Man On Earth about, well, the last man on Earth. The series developed by Will Forte and staring Will Forte is a 22 minute comedy set to air on Fox television.
The new show is about a man who roams the United States looking for another survivor of the catastrophic event that wiped out humanity (at least all humans in Northern America). We have no idea how Fox plans to make this one man show work or what the plot line looks like. Where is the humor in a man searching for other humans? There is literally nobody for him to talk to? No son, no dog, no post apocalyptic gang to try and eat him. This kind of plot line has been explored in a number of movies but never really as a comedy and certainly never as a one man show. Forte who is no stranger to improv and sketch comedy sure has his work cut out for him but considering he is the creator, executive Producer, lone actor (and we suspect writer) he seems to have a whole lot of Faith in his series. Fox also must have been really impressed by the pilot or script or whatever they were shown because they bought the show and have given it a slot in the upcoming Spring T.V season.
The pilot was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller; these former animators have worn a whole lot of caps including Producer, director and actor. The duo who must be mentioned in the same breath, and never separate have worked together on Cloudy with a chance of meatballs, 21 Jump Street (the movie), The Lego Movie and most recently and very impressively Brooklyn nine nine. These two working with Forte certainly have a whole lot of comedic experience between them so we expect some serious comedic situations and impeccable comedic timing. So for skeptics and fans to be alike all we can do is wait and see what these Fox has in store for us.
