Resident Evil 6 Movie Release, News and Rumors: Milla Jovovich Takes Time off Last Movie Delaying Production by at Least a Year
It became pretty clear a while ago that resident evil 6 would not make the long awaited September debut as Paul W.S. Anderson who is the writer and director of the Resident Evil movie franchise claimed that he had not yet finished the second draft of his script. At the same time, Milla Jovovich who is the main character in the franchise also stated that would not be able to make it to the film site because of her recently discovered pregnancy. As such, she is going to take time of her projects to take care of the baby which would mean that a release in 2015 is still not in the cards for the Resident Evil franchise.
This was evident from her post on Facebook; where she states that she was just about to get on a plane to Cape Town where the movie was supposed to be shot when she discovered she was pregnant. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is just as the title suggests the last movie in the installments and it is a shame that the fans have to wait quite a bit for the last movie in the franchise, meaning probably 2016. At this time, we do not know a lot about the plot or the cast of the film except from Milla herself, Li Bingbing, who will return as Ada Wong. It is suspected that Anderson will try and bring closure in this installment and we should expect that a lot of characters will be returning to the screen. There are rumors about Alice but they are back and forth at this time.
The delays in production especially Milla being a no show is going to hurt Screen Gems quite a bit. The production team was reportedly set up at the site ready for filming when Milla Jovovich cancelled her plans. Anderson could have made time with the script if everything was set in place. The box office profits for Screen Gems is going to be greatly affected not forgetting the costs that have been incurred as a result of the wasted time setting up at the film site.
