When it comes to the iPad and the iPhone lines, Apple seems to have been quite productive but when it comes to the iPod Touch line there has not been a lot of progress. As such, Apple released the 5^th generation product in the iPod touch line about two years ago, hence it is easy to see why revenue has been going down in this sector because of the aging products in relation to the next generation devices which are coming out to the market. There has not been a lot of information on why they have neglected the product line for so long, but the 6^th generation iPod touch is finally coming and it is about time.

The release date for the iPod touch 6G has not been confirmed as yet, but the latest rumors imply that it could be released at the same time with the iPhone 6. There are a variety of devices which are projected to hit the shelves from Apple including the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini 3 so it would make sense to give the iPod touch 6G as well. some of the features the device has been projected to have include iOS 8 software update since it is an iOS model. The iPod touch 6G is also projected to incorporate the touch ID fingerprint sensor feature, though all of the next generation Apple devices should have this feature as a benchmark.

The touch ID represents the company's fingerprint tool which will be used for both security as well as convenience. This is probably to compete with the facial recognition software that was released with the current generation Samsung Smartphones such as the Galaxy S4 and the recently released Galaxy Note 4. Apple released a iPod Touch model that came available with a 16GB model with a camera. It should be expected that the next generation 6G will come with better specs to increase incentive.
