Cristela News, Reveals, Spoilers, Rumors and Plot Review: New Show Coming to ABC, Cast and Plot
ABC is really trying to make amends after dropping Suburgatory and Trophy wife. New to their roster this spring is the show Cristela. The situation comedy is about a Mexican American family and shall no doubt be targeting this demographic that has in recent years been all but forgotten when it comes to comedy shows. According to the show's facebook page it shall begin airing on Friday nights at 8:30 beginning October 10th.
Cristela is about a Mexican-American woman who despite all the odds stacked against her manages to graduate as a lawyer. Her mother who has stuck to the old ways does not understand why Cristela has insisted on being a lawyer. Oh did I forget to mention that she lives with her mother and sister and brother in law and their little kids in a cramped space? Yes they do, in Dallas no less. So the show bEgins when she is just finishing law school, juggling school and multiple jobs and constant badgering form her mother. You would think that the cramped quarters were enough material for comedy but no, enter a politically incorrect lawyer who offers her an unpaid internship at his firm. This unpaid job nearly makes her mother throw an embolism. So she works at this job with a friendly co-intern and her boss's pampered daughter. I am not done, she has a cousin who shamelessly flirts with her.
The sitcom shall be starring breakout comedienne Christela Alonzo and is in fact loosely based on her life. Christela is the show's co creator as well as the lead actress so no need to say ABC has a whole lot of faith in her. Carlos Ponce shall also be on the line up . Mr. Ponce is a celebrated Puerto Rican actor and has had appearances in several shows including 7th Heaven and Eve. Terri Hoyos, Andrew Leeds and Sam McMurray are also on the cast list.
