Faith No More New Album Release Date Is April 2015; The Still Untitled Album to be Released without an Outside Label
Faith No More will be releasing their first album in 18 years by April next year. The still untitled album will also be their first to be released without an outside label. The LP record has been in the works for about a year and a half already, right at their rehearsal space in Oakland, California. Faith No More bassist Bill Gould is acting as producer. Once ready, the new Faith No More album release will be under Reclamation Records, the group's own label. Distribution will also be handled by their frontman Mike Patton's own Icepack Recordings.
"Motherfucker," the first song to be featured in the upcoming Faith No More album will be released as a limited-edition 7-inch single on November 28 and this will be followed by a digital release on December 9, both under their Reclamation Records label. Regarding the choice of name for their label, Gould in an interview with Rolling Stone explained: "The name has to do with the fact that we realized we were free from our recording obligations. We weren't touring, we have these songs that we were working on - that we think are pretty cool - and why don't we just do our own imprint and kind of reclaim our future, in a way? We own the future more than we ever have."
In the Rolling Stone interview, Gould also joked about the group's first album in almost two decades. He said, "Hopefully it doesn't sound like a bunch of 50-year-old men... which we are!" When asked if there are any influences that are coming in from bands that weren't around 17 years ago, Gould replied, "Oh, yeah. Justin Bieber - I don't even know how old Justin Bieber was when we were playing last time - and now, he's a major influence. We didn't even have the vocoder effect back then. It's amazing how technology is moving forward."
Faith No More achieved commercial success with their first two albums - the 1989 "The Real Thing" and the 1992 "Angel Dust." The 1997 Faith No More "Album of the Year" charted in many countries and has sold around two million copies worldwide. The Faith No More "Easy" single is considered the group's biggest hit in some countries. The Faith No More "Easy" lyrics is considered by many as among the best that the group has written and is a staple request in practically all karaoke bars.
