Seventh Son Movie Release Date, Reveals and News: Legendary Pictures Comes to the Rescue Pumping 5 Million into the Special Effects Budget
Legendary pictures and Universal pictures haven't been known to be flaky individually or together so it is with much excitement that we expect their new movie Seventh Son coming out in 3D and IMAX 3D on February 6th 2015. The movie based on the novel The Spook's Apprentice by Joseph Delaney is directed by Sergei Bodrov. Mr. Bodrov is no stranger to the screen after his work on movies like Mogol and Prisoner of the mountains. Mr. Bodrov is not one of the best known directors but Legendary and Universal trusted him enough with this project so who are we to judge.
Just like the title suggests the movie is about the seventh son of a seventh son who is living a quiet life in the countryside, farming and such when he is sought out by the sole remaining warrior of a mystical order. This warrior seeks out the seventh son according to a prophesy. The two embark on a journey to vanquish a dark queen and her army of supernatural assassins. The seventh son no doubt a little less battle savvy than his companion but along the way he picks up a few tricks.
The picture was in a little trouble and at threat from not being released. It has gone on and come off the shelf quite a few times but has finally finished post production and shall be ready for the screen by February of nest year. The company doing the special effects went completely and quite suddenly bankrupt at which point Legendary pictures had to pump 5 million USD into Rhythm and Hues so that they could stay afloat long enough to finish their work on the movie. Ben Barnes who has worked in movies like The Words, God Only Knows shall be taking up the role of our hero. Jeff Bridges shall be our lone warrior also known as the spook. Other actors on the bill are Julianne Moore, Alicia Vikander, Kit Harington and Djimon Honsou. The movie is produced by Basil Iwanyk, Thomas Tull and Lionel Wigram. On the writing crew are Matt Greenberg, Chuck Leavitt and Max Borenstein.
