Black Mass Movie Release Date, Reveals, Review, Rumors, Plot and Updates: Alliances between the FBI and the Irish Mob
Judging from the cast and the plot Black mass is set to be one of the best movies released in 2015 if not this decade. The movie is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob written by Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill which was released in 2011. The book is based on true events which makes the movie all the more chilling. Warner Bros. is distributing the movie for Cross Creek Pictures, Grisbi Productions, Infinitum Nihil and Ridgerock Entertainment Group. Scott Cooper has been pegged to direct the flick. Mr. Cooper has quite a list of movies with his name attached to them in numerous capacities from director to actor including Austin Powers; The Spy Who Shagged Me and Crazy Heart (2009)
John Connoly and James Bulger grew up together on the streets of South Boston. Fast forward to the 70's Connoly is in the FBI and Bulger (Whitey) has become a godfather in the Irish mob. The childhood friends hatch a plan to bring down the Italian mob in exchange for Whitey's protection. Of course Murphy's Law comes into full effect with a series of unfortunate events that lead to the biggest informant scandal in the history of the FBI. The book was written by two Boston Globe reporters who covered the case from the beginning.
Hollywood darling Johnny Depp is set to play James ''Whitey'' Bulger he shall be starring opposite Joel Edgerton who takes up the role of John Connoly. Edgerton has an interesting film history with appearances in films like The Great Gatsby. Benedict Cumbarbatch, the best Sherlock Holmes to date in my opinion, shall be taking up the role of William Bulger. Other names on the cast list are Adam Scott, Brad Carter, Jeremy Strong, David Harbour and Corey Stoll. The movie was shot in Boston and is set to be in theatres on September 18th of 2015.
