BFG Movie Release Date, Reveals, Reviews, Plot, News and Spoilers: Spielberg Quarterbacks Idealic Plot for Giants and Dreams
This will not be the first movie by this name in time; both these movies however are based on the same children's book. The BFG is based on a book written by Ronald Dahl and first published in 1982. The first movie was produced by Cosgrove Hall Productions a British animation studio that worked from 1967 to 2009. The one being released on July 1st of 2016 is however produced by DreamWorks and is being distributed by Disney. Spielberg is set to direct the film adding to the number of project Spielberg has picked in the coming years. It seems like Spielberg is out to show us all and James Cameron that he is not out of the game yet.
The movie is about little Sophie who spies a giant blowing something into a neighbors' window, the giant spots Sophie and carries her off to Giant country where he sets out to explain himself. Turns out he was blowing pleasant dreams into a child's room. Giants, it turn out can hear dreams and their contents and out friendly giant wishes children only good dreams. There are, however, evil giants who not only do no care but also find children rather delicious. Sophie convinces her friendly giant to tell the Queen (because she is English) about these evil giants which he does in a dream. The queen seemingly convinced by a dream sends the Royal forces out to capture the evil giants and then throws them in a specially designed pit for the rest of days. The story is very idealic but it will be hard to convince any child in the 21st century over the age of 3 that this is a plausible storyline; Frozen has set the bar very high.
In the original story the King of Sweden and the Sultan of Baghdad are also enlisted in this Queens royal cause, we doubt highly that they will feature in the movie. The voice actors have not yet been revealed but we expect a host of English actors will feature.
