Tarzan Movie Release Date, News, Reviews, Teasers, Rumors and Updates: Movie to be Directed by David Yates from the Harry Potter Franchise
According to the internet movie database (IMDb) there are over 200 movies based on the book Tarzan and its characters. Although the book is nowhere near as well written at Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book it has somehow gotten more treatments. Come July 1st 2016 another movie shall join this list. Tarzan as produced by Village Roadshow Pictures, Dark Horse Entertainment , Jerry Weintraub Productions and Riche Productions is set to be distributed by Warner Bros. David Yates has been picked to direct the project. Yates is an English director who worked on four of the eight Harry Potter movies.
Tarzan is not one book but rather 26, with the first one introducing his character and the subsequent books featuring various adventures. In the books Tarzan leaves the jungle and returns to civilization with Jane. In England Tarzan is nobility but he develops a deep distaste for the city, Europe and nobility. Tarzan and Jane decide to move back to Africa where they live the rest of their days on a ranch that becomes his base of operations. In the movie Tarzan is invited back to the Congo as a trade emissary of Parliament but this turns out to be a trap designed by Captain Rom. There are two fundamental problems with this plot: 1. The Congo is not on the coast, it is in fact now a country called The Democratic Republic of Congo and is very landlocked. 2. Unless the story is set in colonial times then it is a very unrealistic plot.
Alexander Skasgard is set to play Tarzan with Margot Robbie acting opposite him as Jane. Christoph Waltz shall be dropping the Austrian accent for a Belgian one as he is taking up the role of the Belgian Captain Rom. Samuel L. Jackson shall be taking up the role of George Washington Williams, a historical figure who travelled to the Congo after the American Civil War. Other people joining the cast are Djimon Honsou, John Hurt and Simon Russell Beale.
