Sony Xperia Z3v: The First Smartphone for Verizon from Sony; Modified Device Between Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3
For the first time ever, customers of Verizon Wireless will now have the chance to get their hands on a Sony mobile phone and this is in the form of the Sony Xperia Z3v.
According to Yahoo, Sony made an announcement last Thursday, October 09, 2014, that one of its newest smartphones, the Xperia Z3v, will be made available to Verizon. In fact, this phone will only be exclusive to Verizon customers. This means that the brand will finally be able to reach the clients of the largest carrier in the United States.
There is one thing that you need to keep in mind though, as Yahoo has suggested. The latest Sony Xperia Z3v should not be compared with the company's new Z3 product line, a device that was displayed last September at the IFA Consumer Electronics Convention.
As Yahoo has put it, the Z3v, which will soon be available to Verizon Wireless consumers, takes on something that is in between the Xperia Z2 smartphone and the latest Z3 model. What the company did was to make modifications on an Xperia Z2 smartphone and include a few Z3 software features in it. So in a nutshell, the Z3v has a body that is similar to the Z2, but the screen is more akin to that of the Z3.
In a PC Mag report, it was revealed that the new Xperia Z3v phone from Sony will sport a 5.2-inch display screen. The device is also waterproof, a feature that has long been incorporated into many of the devices from the company. In addition, the Android device, which has an impressive front and rear glass panel, has been specifically designed in such a way that it can act as a Sony PlayStation 4 display screen. In other words, the Xperia Z3v can be used as a control/display screen for those who wish to play with their PS4 games.
As for the cost of the phone, Mashable has explained that a two-year contract with Verizon Wireless, worth $199, will already enable consumers to have access to this latest Xperia addition. The device can also be used to stream videos simultaneously on a TV and on the phone.
