NBA Trade Rumors and Updates: Win-Win Situation for Both Teams Concerning Hibberts Trade from Pacers in Exchange for Waiters and Varejao
Last season was quite a roller coaster for some players in the league, particularly Roy Hibberts. This is coming off a really good campaign in 2012-2013, where he played a crucial role for the Pacers. One of his signature moments at this time was blocking Carmelo Anthony's dunk attempt in the second round. He was actually mentioned among the league's elite centers like Dwight Howard. It even reflects in the salary value which has been placed in the neighborhood of 15 million dollars should he transfer to the Cavaliers. At this time, all eyes are focused on Hubert because he carries the majority of the blame causing trade rumors to surface immediately. He made it through the summer without much speculation as to his probable future, then Lance Stephenson went to the Charlotte Hornets and Paul George snapped his leg during a Team USA exhibition game. Now the Pacers may decide to unload his large salary for young and virile blood like Varejao and Waiters from the Cavaliers.
There have been moves which not only messed with Hubert, but the rest of the squad and their chemistry on the court. This includes the signing of Andrew Bynum, on February 1st. there was also the transfer of Danny Granger to the 76ers, in exchange for Evan Turner. Luckily, the Cavaliers need a dominant protector in the middle. At the same time, this would ease down team tensions particularly between Dion Waiters and Kyrie Irving who apparently do not get along.
Even though the Cavaliers seem to have gotten their chess pieces where they want them, this is just as big an advantage for the Pacers. It allows for Waiters to evolve along with Anderson Varejao while George is in rehab improving his knee. Similarly, Waiters would fit perfectly into the Pacer's tough and gritty style of play. In this way, acquiring him would be a good return for a center who wants a change scenery so to speak. The other reason for the move is that the whole Pacer squad seems to be in a state of reinvention where the team is redefining itself.
