Saturday Night Live veteran Eddie Murphy proved his ability to deliver a cinematic leading man role in Beverly Hills Cop amid his rising fame as a comedian thirty years ago. Although he had already shown so much of his promising acting prowess, it was Beverly Hills Cop that provided Murphy with a much bigger venue to showcase what he can do which ultimately propelled his acting career, piling to a pair of sequels for the hit movie and a lot more else through the years.

Nowadays, Murphy is more often seen as the family - friendly movie comedian type during his more recent stints in his career. Even so, the popularity of Beverly Hills Cop has continued to endure through the years-even more so its popular detective hero, Axel Foley-which has led to many years of speculation on a probably sequel to the franchise.

Finally, those speculations can now be put to rest, as movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates Caribbean) has confirmed that the long - awaited Beverly Hills Cop 4 has now been set to debut in the spring of 2016. Reports confirmed that Beverly Hills Cop 4 will premiere on March 25, 2016, with Murphy set to reprise his role, with director Brett Ratner to oversee the direction and screenwriters Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum to provide the script.

While more solid spoilers have yet to be dug up, the announcement mentions that the movie is supposed to take Foley back "to his Detroit roots." Will the "Beverly Hills" portion of the title be of any less significance now? Also, will the movie's screenplay also include stuff from the television adaptation-including Axel Foley's grown son?
