"Red Band Society" Reviews, Plot and Casts: Latest Review on the Series "Red Band Society" and Why Critics Say It's a 'Must Watch' Show of the Season
"Red Band Society" is following the footsteps of young adult movies dealing with hard and complicated issues, such as battling cancer and other form of diseases like "If I Stay" and "The Fault in Our Stars."
The "Red Band Society" is the American adaptation of "Polseres Vermelles" - a television show in Catalan. The series was based on Albert Espinosa's childhood, specifically his own hospital experience. The main characters in the series are Charlie Rowe as Leo Roth, Nolan Sotillo as Jordi Palacios, Octavia Spencer as Nurse Jackson, Dave Annable as Dr. Jack McAndrew.
The plot for the Red Band Society revolved around a group of teenagers who are living together in a hospital while most of them are battling cancer. Charlie is the designated narrator of the story, and ironically, he is unconscious. However, viewers can still feel his presence in the series.
Some critics say that the "Red Band Society" is one of the best shows of the season. A TV series that shows human vulnerability can really be touching. Somehow, it helps us see the harsh reality of life and how much the human spirit can endure, when faced with challenges. Other critics argue that while the storyline of the series is touching and it is somewhat relatable, the acting of the characters doesn't match the health condition that they are dealing with, according to a review from TV.com. It seems as though the characters are "healthy" for someone dealing with a terminal illness. Maybe it's the intention of the producers to make the series seems "lighter" because people already know how "cancer" looks like. The producers may also want to show the viewers that people with life-threatening diseases can still enjoy the same things like we do and they do have lives outside their disease. Each one of us has something inside that makes us a part of the "Red Band Society."
