The Walk Movie Release Date, Reveals, Reviews, Teasers, Spoilers and Alerts; Biographical Movie on French High Wire Artist, Philippe Petit
This movie is certainly going to be a favorite for people who enjoy the circus. The Walk is a biographical movie based on French High Wire Artist Philippe Petit's walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Centers in 1974. One of the questions that immediately arise is: the towers were up in 1974? The movie is directed by Robert Zemeckiss is the creator of the Back to the Future film series and has worked on movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Forrest Gump and Death Becomes Her. His resume speaks for itself so we expect to see all these years of experience manifest in the movie.
The movie shall no doubt follow Petit's decision and preparation to take the walk. Phillipe's walk was not authorized by the authorities and he referred to it as le Coup. Phillipe rigged a 200 kilogram line 1350 feet above ground and used a 25 kilogram balancing pole. His walk took 45 minutes to complete, taking 8 passes along the wire. This must have been quite the scene in New York. He was, of course, immediately charged but all charges were dropped in exchange for a show in Central Park for Children. The story is incredibly romantic and for some reason in my head it is all in black and white. It will also nice to have the Twin Towers featured in a movie again as they were such an integral part of the New York skyline. Let me mention that Phillipe was a few days shy of 25 when he did this stunt. The movie is all about going out and grabbing what you want regardless of the risks involved.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is taking up the role of Phillipe Petit. Mr. Levitt is as at now 33 but could pass for 22 if you ask me. We know him from movies like 500 days of Summer and 10 Things I Hate About You. Ben Kingsley, James Badge Dale, Ben Shwartz, Steve Valentine and Charlotte Le Bon are other names on the cast list. The movie is coming out on the 2nd of October 2015 and is distributed by TriStar Pictures. The movie will be released a few days after the 15th anniversary of the twin tower disaster.
