Whole Family Found Dead in Utah Cause Unknown - Finally Identified?

A couple and their three children were found dead in a home near Provo, Utah. Authorities who were investigating the case said that they are still unsure what causes the death of the family. Police said that there's "no obvious sign of trauma or foul play."

The bodies were found and reported by the couple's older son and his grandparents. It was found around 8PM MDT. Police spokesman Lt. Dave Caron said that the medical examiner will try to determine the cause of death, but as of now, it remains unknown. Caron told USA Today, "Police secured the scene and checked to make sure it was safe to continue the investigation inside." 

"There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. We didn't see that when we first got there and we still don't," he added.

The police initially didn't release additional details except for the ages of the victim - the parents are in their mid 30's and the age of the children ranges from 14, 12, and 11 years old. The police released the names of the victims, Benjamin Strack and Kristi Strack the couple and the children - 14-year-old Benson Strack, 12-year-old Emery Strack, and 11-year-old Zion Strack. The police in Springville don't believe that there's an imminent danger to the community. The family lived in a duplex, and the residents in the other half of the duplex were unharmed. The pets inside the house were also "taken out of the house alive."

The police also said that they've tested the house for carbon monoxide but the results were negative, but the gas could've dissipated by the time the authorities arrived on the scene. Caron said that carbon monoxide poisoning is something that they are concern about especially "at this time of the year."

Caron also said that a relative went to visit the family last Saturday morning and even spoke to them, but when that same relative went back by Saturday night, the whole family is dead. That relative is the one who is responsible in calling the police and reporting the incident.

The neighbors said that the family is great and the children are really close to each other.
