Google Nexus 9 Unveiled; Together with the New OS, Android L
The Internet giant, Google, unveiled its HTC-built Nexus 9 last Wednesday. The tablet will go on sale on Nov. 3 and will be available in 29 countries over the coming weeks. Pre-order for Nexus 9 starts on Oct. 17.
Other devices were introduced as well including the Nexus 6, a 6-inch smartphone made by Motorola Mobility, and the new Nexus Player, which streams media using Android TV and is made by Asus.
The Nexus 9 is said to be tinier in size compared to the iPad, but still exceeds the size of the iPad Mini. It is mainly designed for multi-tasking and is made with a brushed aluminum frame including a soft grip back portion. The tablet weighs 420 grams, which is 50 grams lighter than Apple's iPad Air.
The new Google tablet's screen boasts a big 8.9 inch display screen.
With HTC and Google's collaboration, the Nexus 9 will feature HTC's Boom Sound audio speaker technology. Two speakers will be placed on the front of the device, contrary to the past down-facing speaker designs of preceding Google tablets.
It will also be the first Nexus gadget to pack a 64 bit dual core NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor for smoother operations and a better gameplay experience. The RAM of the device will have a capacity of 2 GB.
An 8 megapixel camera is placed on the rear of the tablet, while a 1.6 megapixel one will be placed in front. It will also be usable even without touching the device, by taking advantage of the new voice command feature.The battery of the Nexus 9 will have a capacity of 6,700 mAh for longer uninterrupted usage. For storage options, the device will be available in 16 GB or 32 GB with no expandable memory support.
Both the Nexus 9 and the Nexus 6 will run on Google's latest Android version named Android Lollipop. The newest version of the Android has brand new technological features. A universal user interface that can be used across all your devices that run Android Lollipop. A device encryption feature is also included in the new operating system from Google.
